A business directory is a website or printed listing of information which lists businesses within niche based categories. Businesses can be categorized by niche, location, activity, or size. Business may be compiled either manually or through an automated online search software. Online yellow pages are a type of business directory, as is the traditional phone book.[1]The details provided in a business directory may vary. They may include the business name, addresses, telephone numbers, location, contact information, type of service or products the business provides, the number of employees, the served region and any professional associations.[2]
Many business directories offer complimentary listings in addition to the premium options. There are many business directories and some of these have moved over to the internet and away from printed format. Whilst not being search engines, business directories often have a search function, enabling users to search businesses by Zip Code, country, state, area or city.[4]
Historians have linked the development of trade directories such as Kelly's trade directory, Bradshaw's railway timetables and guides and Mitchell's Press Directories to the growth of 'rational, scientific inquiry' and statistics in the nineteenth century.[5]

If your business license and or type of business is not listed, you might not need a Denver business license from our agency. If you are a contractor and need a license, visit the Community Planning & Development site, or visit the State of Colorado for state business licensing requirements.
All certified Emerging Business Enterprise businesses are included in the City's EBE Directory. The EBE Directory is included in bid documents so that contractors can identify subcontractors to meet the City's 10% EBE goal.

The City or contractors seeking partners/teams use the City's Online Business Directory (OBD) when seeking companies for work. When registering in the OBD, you can indicate your business expertise and status as a women- or minority-owned business (if applicable) and register for the City's Consultant Roster.
At these "101" sessions, we provide information to vendors, consultants and contractors on how to do business with the City including tips on bidding, explanations of procedures and forms and an opportunity to meet the buyer and program administrator for your commodity or specialty. It is a simple process where you provide us basic information about your company. If you are a consultant, you can also upload your resume or marketing brochure. When City departments are looking for companies to supply goods or services, they may use this directory to develop bid and contact lists.
Online Business Directory: Your business name, business address, contact information and details about your business. You will be asked whether your business is women or minority owned, and if you are also state certified.
Consultant Roster: You will need to select particular areas of expertise from a list. You (or a member of your firm) must confirm that your business has the required education, experience and any applicable licensing to perform the work you seek. You will be invited to upload your statement of qualifications/resume.
Winning bidders with a physical nexus in city limits must hold or obtain a Seattle business license and a state of Washington business license (when applicable). For construction, you must be registered and licensed with the state of Washington as a contractor.
Registering your business does not pre-approve or authorize you to do business with the City. Departments may contact registered businesses when they are looking to purchase goods and services. This is the Directory of Corporate Archives in the United States and Canada. This includes companies that maintain their historical records themselves, as well as companies that contract with historical consulting firms to maintain their archives collections for them, and libraries that contain business records. Those businesses that contract outside the company for archival services are marked by an asterisk. This directory also includes the archives of professional associations as these collections document various industries and companies that may be of use to corporate archivists.
